The Garderhøj Fortfortet was build during the years 1886 to 1892.
Building the fort was financed by private fundraising.
As the only fort on the northern front it was square-shaped. All the other forts here, were triangle-shaped.
Another special thing about Garderhøj Fort is, that the barracks were placed outside the fort.
