                              The Masnedø Fort

The Masnedø Fort was built after the political 1909 defense agreement as part of a larger overall plan for the defense of Sealand in the years
1912 - 1915.

However, only the Masnedø Fort and the Grønsund Position, which consisted of the Borgsted Battery and the Hårbølle Battery, was constructed.

The Grønsund Position was located on the southwestern part of Moen.
The fort had the following particular tasks:

- To protect the connection between Zealand and Falster
- To prevent enemy forces crossing the Storstrømmen
- To prevent hostile incursions into Storstrømmen from Grønsund
- To support the Danish forces in combat
- To protect the railway junction Vordingborg / Masnedsund
